Andy Hogan receives his RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) from BICSI
April 18, 2004 | Tampa, FL

At a press conference today, the Affiliated Chambers of Commerce of Greater Springfield, Inc. announced that Hogan Communications of Easthampton has been named the ACCGS Small Business of the Year 2001.

A full-service communications company, specializing in the installation and service of voice and data systems, Hogan Communications was selected based on its longevity as an established business, growth in workforce and revenue, innovation within the business, an entrepreneurial spirit and outstanding Chamber involvement.

According to Russell F. Denver, President of the Affiliated Chambers of Commerce of Greater Springfield Inc., "Hogan Communications is a true representative of small business, which is the backbone of our community. The Hogan Team combines for a pool of talent, energy, hard work, dedication, and a commitment to their community. This company is truly deserving of our recognition."

A family-owned and operated business, Hogan Communications was founded in 1986 by the father and sons team of father John J., and sons Sean and Andrew. Three years later, John Hogan retired, leaving the sons to advance the company through the wireless world. Both Sean and Andrew detected a need for one company that could service both computer network clients and telephone systems clients. According to Sean and Andrew, "with the advent of Ethernet, the business boomed."

Hogan Communications tailored its talents to concentrate on network installation, design and maintenance, and for over 15 years, the company has grown to over $3 million in sales, with such notable clients as American Saw & Mfg. Co., Marox, Springfield Library, and Smith College.

Holyoke natives, Sean attended Holyoke High School and received his Associate's Degree from Holyoke Community College. He currently serves as the operations manager for the company. Andrew attended Dean Technical School, pursued a career in sales upon graduation, and is now the sales manager within the organization, but according to the brothers, "we realize in a company of our size that we share in all duties."

Hogan Communications is not only a leader in the network installation and systems support industry, but in the community, as well. The company and its employees are active participants in numerous community organizations, including the Jimmy Fund, American Red Cross, Holyoke Boys Club, Holyoke Youth Soccer, Westfield Boys and Girls Club, Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Most recently, Hogan Communications was honored as a Charter Member of the American Red Cross and was a 2000 recipient of the Affiliated Chambers of Commerce of Greater Springfieldís Super 60 Award.

In addition to the recognition by the ACCGS, Hogan Communications will be nominated to the United States Small Business Administration for consideration for both the state and national Small Business Person of the Year awards as honored by the SBA.
